2023 Recipient, Major Contributors to the Arts
For over 50 years, the Deweys have invested themselves and their resources in preserving and promoting the arts and history of New Mexico-to the benefit of all New Mexicans. After marrying in 1968, Ray, of Colorado, and Judy, an Albuquerque native, settled in Santa Fe and launched Dewey Galleries on the Plaza. The Albuquerque Museum, National Hispanic Cultural Center and 516 Arts have all benefited from their gifts of funding, collections items, or cultural advice. The Deweys are knowledgeable collectors and became two of the most trusted sources in the field. Their volunteerism and philanthropy extend to museums statewide, including the Harwood Museum of Art, Millicent Rogers Museum, and Roswell Museum. In addition to fundraising, the couple supported capital campaigns and gifted artworks to all four Foundation-affiliated museums.
