Jim Harris served as the first official Director of the Lea County Museum in Lovington, New Mexico for 20 years before retiring in December of 2021. Harris is the author and editor of 12 books and has published poems, short stories, reviews and literary criticism in dozens of magazines and anthologies. He taught literature and writing classes at New Mexico Junior College for 26 years from 1974 to 2000 and for over 25 years he has written weekly columns for the newspapers, the Hobbs News Sun and the Lovington Leader.
